Farouk Ahmed, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), has formally handed over leadership of the agency to Saidu Aliyu Mohammed.
NMDPRA confirmed the handover in a statement on its official X account on Tuesday, describing the ceremony as a demonstration of the agency’s commitment to continuity, accountability, and effective leadership.
“The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority on Tuesday conducted a formal handover ceremony to mark the transition from the outgoing Authority Chief Executive, Engr. Farouk Ahmed, to the incoming Authority Chief Executive, Engr. Saidu Aliyu Mohammed,” the statement said.
Ahmed stepped down following allegations from Dangote Refinery President Aliko Dangote, who claimed that Ahmed paid $5 million to fund his four children’s education abroad.
Ahmed denied the claims. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has announced plans to investigate the matter.
Mohammed was screened and confirmed by Nigeria’s National Assembly before taking over as CEO.
